Junior Khanye’s analysis and picks for this week’s international soccer matches.
Bafana Bafana vs Guinea
Bafana-Bafana: Lose/Draw
I’m not convinced with the Bafana-Bafana team selection. The coach selected players that are not consistently playing and most of them play in the lower league.
Guinea has many individual players that are used to high intensity European League matches; that’s why I see a draw or Guinea winning.
Egypt vs Senegal
Egypt Draw
I see a very tough game between the two teams, the Egyptians are strong tactically. Their technical approach allows them to circulate the ball in the field of play, and the players also understand each other’s strength. This is not the best Egypt team I’ve seen, but the team does have individual players such as: Salah Mohsen and Trezeguet that can positively impact the team.
Senegal has a powerful squad, that recently won the African Cup of Nations and they are highly motivated. To Senegal, this is another final. The team understands each other’s strength, the players all play in big leagues and Senegal is rated #1 in Africa; however, I see Egypt winning this one.
Ghana v Nigeria
Nigeria Win
Ghana has an ordinary squad with overrated players such as: Ayew. I respect the country’s development structure, along with Nigeria but the Ghanaian team is not the best. The team is lucky to be in the position they’re in.
Nigeria has a lot of talented individual players that are explosive and dynamic. They’re unfortunate to not be in the AFCON final, but they managed to assemble a team full of talented young players, that’s why I see Nigeria winning.
England v Switzerland
England Win
The English team is overrated, they play using their physique, and the players lack technique, in my opinion. The team is energetic though, but lack speed in the field of play.
Switzerland isn’t the best either, the team has players that are in different leagues, and are not highly rated with the best players, however it is good that the country is represented by them but the players are not on a national level; which is why I see England winning this one. The English team understand each other’s strength because they have been playing together for 3 years now and are managed by Pep Guardi
