Kevin Lerena was excited as the rest of us when the Durban July Final Field was announced yesterday. He may be better known as a boxer, but his family name is well and truly steeped in Horse Racing tradition.
Although a heavyweight now, Kevin was once a lightie and took part in Work Rider races. His dad Anton, Uncle Tex and cousin Stephen were trainers and his other cousins Gavin, Brandon and Dylan are all currently jockeys.
Kevin loves to go racing and is a keen form studier and has already made his selections to “KO” the Hollywoodbets Durban July field.
He says “in no particular order”, but we get the feeling his cuzzies mount Kommetdieding (14/1) carries his heart.
