English Premier League Betting Preview, Sunday 22 January
January 20, 2023

There are 3 English Premier League fixtures taking place on Sunday including the big Arsenal v Man United clash and we take a look at all 3 games from a betting angle.

Leeds v Brentford – Click here to bet

Leeds are currently 15th on the table and without a win in their last 5 games.  They went down 2-1 to Aston Villa last time out and their last home game was a 2-2 draw against West Ham.

Brentford are 8th on the table and undefeated in their last 7 matches with 4 wins in their last 5.  They beat Bournemouth 2-0 at home last time out and their last away game was a 2-0 victory over West Ham.

7 of the last 8 Leeds games have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers and both teams have found the back of the net in 5 of the last 7 Brentford matches.

I think we will get goals in this one and over 2.5 goals is priced at 7/10, but I can’t resist getting almost 2/1 about an in-form Brentford side against a struggling Leeds outfit.

Suggested Bet:  Brentford win at 15/8

Manchester City v Wolves – Click here to bet

Manchester City are 2nd on the log, 8 points behind Arsenal heading into this weekend’s action.  They were beaten 2-1 away at Manchester United last time out and have lost 3 of their last 10 matches.

Wolves are currently 16th on the log and got a much needed win 1-0 at home to West Ham in their last start.  Their last away game was a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa.

City have won 7 and drawn 1 of their 9 home matches this season while Wolves have won only once in 9 road trips.  8 of the 9 Manchester City home matches have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers, but overs punters wouldn’t have been so lucky in Wolves games on the road where only 4 of the 9 have reached the 3 goal mark.

Manchester City won the reverse fixture 3-0 and won this fixture 1-0 last season.

Manchester City have conceded goals in 5 of their last 6 matches and I am backing both teams to get on the score sheet here.

Suggested Bet:  Both teams to score, YES, at 23/20

Arsenal v Manchester United – Click here to bet

Arsenal are flying high at the top of the table, 8 points ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United although Manchester United have played a game more.

The Gunners beat Tottenham 2-0 on the road on the weekend and they have only lost 1 game all season.  Their home form is excellent with 7 wins and a draw in 8 matches.  That draw did come last time out 0-0 against Newcastle.

Manchester United will feel they missed the chance to go above Manchester City into 2nd when they conceded a late equalizer against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.  It broke a run of 5 successive Manchester United victories although they have only won 3 out of 10 matches on the road.

Arsenal home games averaged 3.8 goals each with 7 of the 8 reaching the 3 goal mark while Manchester United away matches have averaged 3 goals each with a 50% strike rate for over 2.5 goal backers.

Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-1 in the reverse fixture in September of last year and Arsenal won this fixture 3-1 last season.

Arsenal are short-priced favourites here at 17/20 and it is hard to argue given their recent form.  I just have a feeling though that Manchester United are going to absorb pressure and then hit them with a hammer blow.

Suggested Bet:  Manchester United win at 16/5
