English Premier League Betting Preview, Sunday 12 March
March 9, 2023

We take a look at the 4 English Premier League matches taking place on Sunday and suggest a bet in each game.

The Outright Betting for the English Premier League is constantly updated and as things stand, Arsenal are the 9/10 favourites ahead of Manchester City at 21/20.

Fulham v Arsenal – Click here to bet

Fulham are 7th on the table, but their form has dipped just recently and they are coming off a 1-1 home draw to Wolves which was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Brentford.  Overall at home this season they have only lost 3 of 13 matches with 4 draws and 6 victories.

Arsenal are top of the table, 5 points clear of Manchester City.  They have won their last 4 matches in a row including a last minute 3-2 come from behind victory over Bournemouth last time out.  Their last away game was a 1-0 victory over Leicester and they have the best away record in the English Premier League taking 31 points out of a possible 39.

Arsenal beat Fulham 2-1 at home in the reverse fixture and these sides have played some high scoring encounters over the years.

4 of Arsenals last 5 League fixtures have had 4 goals or more in them and Fulham are coming off a 5 goal thriller.  I am going for over 3.5 goals at 2/1

Suggested Bet:  Over 3.5 goals at 2/1

Manchester United v Southampton – Click here to bet

Manchester United are 3rd on the table and appeared to be making real progress with 3 wins in 4 matches before they travelled to Liverpool on Sunday where they were hammered 7-0.  Their recent away form has been solid and they have only lost 1 game at Old Trafford this season.

Southampton are second from bottom of the table and they have won 2 of their last 3 games.  Last time out they beat Leicester 1-0 at home and two starts back they beat Chelsea 1-0 on the road.

Manchester United beat Southampton 1-0 in the reverse fixture, but they have been a mixed bag at Old Trafford in recent years with 2 draws either side of a 9-0 hammering.

I am expecting a Manchester United backlash after the Liverpool defeat and will back them to win this by more than a goal.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Manchester United -1.5 at 1/1

West Ham v Aston Villa – Click here to bet

West Ham are currently 16th on the log, but with just 1 win in their last 5 starts. They were beaten 4-0 at Brighton last time out, but prior to that beat Nottingham 4-0 at home.  They have taken 7 points from their last 9 in front of their own fans.

Aston Villa are currently 11th on the log and broke a 3 match losing streak with back-to-back victories away at Everton and at home to Crystal Palace.  Villa have been solid on the road this season with 4 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats in their 12 matches, but 4 of their last 5 away games have been victories.

Only 3 of the 12 West Ham matches have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers and 50% of Aston Villa games have reached the 3 goal mark.

West Ham beat Aston Villa 1-0 on the road earlier this season and I am expecting a tight match here with defence dominating.

Suggested Bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 8/10

Newcastle v Wolves – Click here to bet

Newcastle are currently 6th on the log, but on a poor run which has seen them without a victory in their last 5 games.  They are coming off back-to-back defeats, 2-0 away at Manchester City and 2-0 at home to Liverpool.  They have only lost 1 match at home this season.

Wolves are 13th on the log and got a much needed victory last time out when they beat Tottenham 1-0 at home that after a run which saw them take just the 1 point out of a possible 9.  Wolves have only won twice on the road this season and these sides played to a 1-1 draw at Wolves in the reverse fixture.

Looking at head-to-heads between these teams, 5 of the last 7 games have finished level and I can see another draw on the cards here.

Suggested Bet:  The draw at 95/40
