South Africa v West Indies 3rd T20 Betting Preview
March 27, 2023

South Africa host the West Indies in the 3rd and decisive T20 International at the Wanderers on Tuesday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

The Series is perfectly poised at 1-1 heading into this decider and we have certainly had 2 very different matches to get us to this point.  Saturday there was plenty of rain about and when play got underway South Africa scored 131 for 8 off 11 overs.  The West Indies knocked up the 132 required for victory with 3 balls to spare and 3 wickets in hand.

Then on Sunday all sorts of records broke in a high scoring fixture at Centurion.  South Africa won the toss and decided to field first and it certainly didn’t look like a good decision when the West Indies scored 258 for 5 in their 20 overs.  Johnson Charles scoring a magnificent 118 off 46 balls, Marco Jansen picked up 3 for 52 off his 4 overs.

South Africa’s reply began briskly and they were never in trouble and they chased down the 259 required for victory with 4 wickets down and just over an over to spare.  Quinton de Kock scored a 100 off 44 balls and Reeza Hendricks 68 off 28 while Captain Markram and Heinrich Klaasen saw the Proteas home.  There was nothing much to report from a bowling perspective as all of the West Indias bowlers took plenty of tap.

South Africa 4/9

West Indies 7/4

Bookmakers have certainly adjusted the betting as it is clear the West Indies are very competitive in this Series and it is only a record run chase by South Africa that stopped them from taking an unassailable lead.

I am going to swerve the match result and will focus on some of the Exotic Markets on offer.

Suggested Bet:  Top South African Batsman, Quinton de Kock at 85/40

De Kock looked in imperious form in the 2nd T20 and he is the sort of player that often strings top innings together.

Suggested Bet:  West Indies Top Batter, Johnson Charles at 3/1

After his incredible knock at Centurion I am quite happy to take 3/1 about his chances of once again delivering as the West Indies Top Batsman.
