DSTV Premiership, Betting Preview Sunday 9 April
April 7, 2023

We take a look at the 3 DSTV Premiership matches taking place on Sunday and suggest a bet in each game.

Royal AM v Stellenbosch – Click here to bet

Royal AM are currently 11th on the log having suffered back-to-back defeats, away at Marumo Gallants and Mamelodi Sundowns.  They have won 5 and drawn 4 of their 12 home fixtures and both teams have found the back of the net in 5 out of the last 6 Royal AM fixtures.

Stellenbosch are 8th on the table and saw a 5 match unbeaten run ended when they went down 2-1 away to Kaizer Chiefs last time out.

6 of their last 7 matches have seen both teams score and this has also occurred in the last 2 head-to-head meetings between the sides and I am happy to take the even money that this trend continues.

Suggested Bet:  Both teams to score, YES, at 1/1

Swallows v Mamelodi Sundowns – Click here to bet

Swallows are currently 13th on the log after picking up a much needed 3 points away at AmaZulu last time out.  Their home record has been solid this season with 5 wins and 2 draws in 12 matches, but they have lost their last 2 home fixtures.

Mamelodi Sundowns have cruised to another Title and they are 20 points clear at the top of the log.  They were held to a goalless draw by Cape Town City at home last time out and on the road this season they have won 8, drawn 2 and lost 1 of 11 matches.  Over 2.5 goal backers have a 50% strike rate in Swallows home matches, but only 4 of the 11 Sundowns away games have reached the 3 goal mark.

Sundowns won the reverse fixture 2-0 at home and they also won this fixture 4-2 last season.

Swallows have far more to play for though and I am going to back them to get something out of this game.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Swallows +0.5 at 29/20

Cape Town City v AmaZulu – Click here to bet

Cape Town City are 5th on the log and undefeated in their last 5 games although they are coming off back-to-back draws away at Sundowns and at home to Marumo Gallants.  They have won 6, drawn 4 and lost only 2 of their 12 home matches this season and have taken 10 points from a possible 12 in their last 4 home games.

AmaZulu are 12th on the log and getting close to the relegation zone after back-to-back defeats at home to Swallows and away at Stellenbosch.  They have only won twice in 12 attempts on the road this season with 7 draws and 3 defeats.

Cape Town City are playing well and I am backing them for the 3 points here against a struggling AmaZulu side.

Suggested bet:  Cape Town City won at 21/20
