English Premier League, Betting Preview Saturday 8 April
April 7, 2023

There are 8 English Premier League matches taking place on Saturday and we suggest a bet in each of them.

A quick look at the latest Outright Betting where Arsenal are trading as 15/20 favourites ahead of Manchester City at 22/20.

Manchester United v Everton – Click here to bet

Manchester United are 4th on the log and got their campaign back on track with a 1-0 victory at home to Brentford last time out.

Everton currently sit 16th and are not yet clear of relegation, but they are undefeated in their last 4 games with 3 draws and a victory.

United look worthy favourites here at 5/10, but I think we are in for another low scoring game between these sides and I am taking under 2.5 goals.

Suggested Bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 21/20

Aston Villa v Nottingham – Click here to bet

Aston Villa are currently 7th on the log and have won 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 matches.  They beat Leicester 2-1 on the road last time out.

They face a Nottingham team currently in 17th and pretty much in free fall without a win in their last 8.  They lost 2-1 at Leeds in their last match.

You cannot compare the form of these two sides and I am backing Aston Villa to win this one by more than a goal.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Aston Villa -1.5 at 17/10

Brentford v Newcastle – Click here to bet

Brentford are 9th on the log, but without a win in their last 3 matches and they went down 1-0 on the road to Manchester United last time out.

They face a Newcastle side that is sitting 3rd and have got their season back on track with 4 successive victories including a 5-1 rout of West Ham in their last start.

I am more than happy to bet anything better than even money here as Brentford certainly has seemed to hit a wobbly patch.

Suggested Bet:  Newcastle United win at 23/20

Fulham v West Ham – Click here to bet

Fulham are currently 10th on the log and they have lost their last 3 matches and haven’t won in their last 4.  They lost 2-1 away to Bournemouth in their last start.

West Ham are 15th on the log and are coming off a 5-1 hammering at home at the hands of Newcastle.  Their last away game was also a big defeat, 4-0 against Brighton.

With both of these sides struggling the draw stands out as the obvious value.

Suggested Bet:  The draw at 23/10

Leicester v Bournemouth – Click here to bet

Leicester are currently 19th on the log, 1 position behind Bournemouth who are 2 points ahead of them on the table.  Leicester have lost 6 and drawn 1 of their last 7 games and they were beaten 2-1 at home by Aston Villa last time out.

Bournemouth have been a bit more hit and miss with 3 victories and 4 defeats in their last 7 and their last game was a 2-0 home defeat to Brighton.

This is the dance of the desperate and I think we could get a scrappy affair and I am going for under 2.5 goals.

Suggested Bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 1/1

Tottenham v Brighton – Click here to bet

Tottenham are currently 5th on the table 1 position ahead of Brighton in 6th although Brighton trail Tottenham by 4 points, but have two games in hand.  Tottenham are undefeated in their last 3, but are coming off back-to-back away draws at Everton and Southampton.

Brighton are undefeated in their last 5 games with 3 wins and 2 draws.  They beat Bournemouth 2-0 on the road last time out.

I am expecting Tottenham to get the better of this clash and to repeat the 1-0 victory they had at Brighton earlier in the season.

Suggested Bet:  Correct score, 1-0 at 8/1

Wolves v Chelsea – Click here to bet

Wolves are currently 14th on the log and 3 positions behind Chelsea in 11th.  Wolves have only won 1 of their last 7 matches and drew 1-1 at Nottingham last time out.  Their last home game was a 4-2 defeat against Leeds.

Chelsea have only taken 2 points from the last 9 they have played for and they played out a goalless draw at home to Liverpool in their last match.  Their last away game was a 3-1 defeat of Leicester back in early March.

Neither of these sides are going particularly well, but I have to fancy Chelsea will be too strong for Wolves and can grab the win.

Suggested Bet:  Chelsea win at 1/1

Southampton v Manchester City – Click here to bet

Southampton are bottom of the table with only 2 wins in their last 10 starts.  They were beaten 1-0 on the road by West Ham last time out.

They face a Manchester City side still in Title contention, 8 points behind Arsenal, but with a game in hand.  City have won their last 4 in a row and their last away game was a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

I am expecting Manchester City to get the win, but I think this will be a narrow one and I am going to bet on them to win by exactly 1 goal.

Suggested Bet:  Handicap, Manchester City -1, the draw at 29/10
