The UEFA Champions League semi-finals take place this week and we take a look at Tuesday nights clash between City and Madrid from a betting angle.

REAL MADRID
Real Madrid face their 3rd consecutive EPL opponent having seen off Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate in the round of 16. They basically ended the tie as a contest in the 1st leg at Anfield where their won 5-2. Chelsea were next up in the quarters and they were put away in clinical fashion with the Spanish Giants winning each leg 2-0 for a 4-0 aggregate.
Domestically Real Madrid have been a bit inconsistent of late with 2 losses in their last 4 games however they did beat Osasuna 2-1 to lift their domestic cup over the weekend.
MANCHESTER CITY
City played RB Leipzig in the last 16 and after drawing 1-1 on the road they cut loose winning the home leg 7-0 for a 7-1 aggregate win. They were up against German powerhouse Bayern Munich in the last 4 and they were excellent in the first leg at home winning 3-0 a deficit that Bayern could not recover from as City progressed 4-1 on aggregate.
Domestically City have been dominant and they are now firmly in control of their title defence and on the weekend beat Leeds United 2-1 at home. City have not tasted defeat in any competition since an loss away to Tottenham in early February.
HEAD TO HEAD
These sides met in last seasons semi-finals with Real Madrid advancing 6-5 on aggregate. The 1st leg was at City where the hosts won 4-3 but a late penalty concession for Real’s 3rd goal would ultimately prove crucial. The 2nd leg required extra time with Real Madrid getting up 3-1 on the night to progress.

I think we may be in for a fairly tight low scoring encounter as Madrid’s defence has been excellent in the knockouts to date. Under 2.5 goals is 11/10 but the bet I think offers the best value here is the draw as I am expecting City to repeat the recipe from their last 16 clash by giving away nothing on the road and then delivering the knock out blow at home.
