The French Open men’s semi-finals takes place at Roland Garros on Friday and we take a look at both games from a betting angle.
BETTING UPDATE
Top seed, Carlos Alcaraz is the 13/20 favourite to win the French Open ahead of his semi-final opponent, Novak Djokovic who is priced at 21/10. You can get 8/1 Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud is trading at 9/1.

Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic
Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed and has certainly played well enough to justify that seeding losing only 1 set on route to the semi-final. After a straights set win over Cobolli in the first round he dropped a set against Daniel in the 2nd round although only dropped 4 games in the 3 sets that he won.
Shapovalov was the next to be despatched in the 3rd round as the 26th seed was bundled out in straight sets before the 17th seed Musetti was given similar treatment in the 4th round. Tsitsipas was blown away in the first 2 sets of the quarter-final before Alcaraz closed the match out with a 3rd set tie breaker.
3rd Seed Novak Djokovic has also dropped just the 1 set and that came in his quarter-final against Khachanov where he dropped the 2nd set on the tie breaker. He had comfortable straight sets victories over Kovacevic and Fulsovics in the 1st and 2nd rounds before been pushed hard by 29th seed, Davidovich-Fokina, winning the first 2 sets on tie breakers before taking the 3rd, 6-2. Unseeded Varillas offered little resistance in the 4th round and as mentioned above he won his quarter-final in 4 sets.
Head-to-Head
Alcaraz and Djokovic have only met once and that was in the Madrid Open in 2022 where Alcaraz came out on top of the 3 tight sets, 6-7, 7-5, 7-6.

Carlos Alcaraz 40/85
Novak Djokovic 17/10
When you consider that last time these two played there were 38 games in the match and it was only a 3 setter, I find myself leaning towards the overs in games in this one. Djokovic will have to lift his game to stay with Alcaraz, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this one went to a 5th set and I am betting that we get 40 games or more.
Suggested Bet: Over 39.5 games at 1/1

Casper Ruud v Alexander Zverev
Casper Ruud, 4th seed has dropped 3 sets on his way to the semi-final. He opened his campaign with a comfortable straight sets victory over Ymer before been pushed hard by Zeppieri in the 2nd round eventually winning the 4th set 7-5. He went down a set to Zhang in his 3rd round before coming back to win comfortably in 4 sets and his 4th round clash against Jarry was also tight with a 7-6, 7-5, 7-5 score line. He faced his first seed in Rune in the quarter-finals where he won the first 2 sets comfortably before dropping the 3rd eventually closing the match out 6-3 in the 4th.
Zverev the 22nd seed has played better than I have seen him in sometime and has only dropped 2 sets on his way to the last 4. He was given a stiff test by South African, Harris in his 1st round winning 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 before comfortable straight sets victory over Molcan in the 2nd round. 12th seed Tiafoe took the first set against him in the 3rd round before Zverev came back to win, taking two crucial tie breakers and he then romped past 28th seed, Dimitrov in straight sets in the 4th round. The quarter-final was a competitive affair against unseeded Etcheverry and with a tie poised at 1 set all, Zverev pulled clear to win the 3rd and 4th sets.
Head-to-Head
These players have met 3 times with Alexander Zverev holding a 2-1 record.
