Lucky Lad May Be The Best We’ve Ever Seen

A stellar day of racing is promised at Greyville Racecourse on Sunday. We have discussed the two incredible races, the Gold Cup and the Champions Cup, in yesterday’s preview. This preview will discuss the Champion Stakes, the Mercury Sprint, and the Douglas Whyte Stakes.

In Race 5, the World Pool Moment Of The Day Champion Stakes Richard Fourie will reunite with his 2-year-old sensation Lucky Lad. The Sean Tarry inmate has done nothing wrong in his career, winning all his starts to date. It will be his first time over the mile and around the bend, but being out of champion sire Gimmethegreenlight, he should have no problem with the trip. The only thing against him is his wide draw of 13, but his class and with the supreme ability of his jockey, he should be able to win this!

The Mercury Sprint, Race 6 on the card, looks like a two-horse race between Gimme A Prince and Isivunguvungu. Gimme A Prince won the Cape Flying Championship in Cape Town, while Isivunguvungu won the Computaform Sprint in Johannesburg, a race in which Gimme A Prince did not participate. Gimme A Prince went on to win the Golden Horse Sprint, a race in which Isivunguvungu did not take part. It is a race where the two best sprinters and the two best jockeys will face off against each other as Keagan De Melo, Champion Jockey of South Africa, will ride Gimme A Prince, and Richard Fourie will ride Isivunguvungu, the jockey who has officially come second in the 22/23 racing season.

It promises to be a race for the ages, and there should be nothing in it, but you should be able to survive the exotics with just the two horses.

The Douglas Whyte Stakes will see the best 2-year-old fillies strut their stuff, and it does look to be an open race; it does like Secret Identity, Egyptian Mau, and Rascova are the leading contenders. However, 2-year-olds, especially 2-year-old fillies, can improve drastically, so caution is advised.

The best racing card of the year has been assembled in this 10-race program at Greyville on Sunday, and we wish you, our valued WSB client, the best of luck. – CLICK HERE TO BET
