South Africa and Australia meet in the 2nd of 3 T20’s in Durban on Friday night and the Proteas are under big pressure after taking a hammering in game 1.
1st T20
South Africa won the toss and elected to field in the 1st T20 on Wednesday night and from thereon it was one-way traffic. The Aussies did lose an early wicket in Travis Head, but Mitch Marsh (our Top Bat pick at 23/10) stepped up and played a captain’s knock, scoring 92 runs off 49 balls. There was also a whirlwind 64 from Tim David at a strike rate of 228 and Australia reached a massive 226 for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. All of the South Africa bowlers went for over 10 an over with Lizaad Williams picking up 3 for 44.
The Proteas got off to an awful start with Temba Bavuma going for a duck and although Reeza Hendricks scored 56 off 43 balls there were too many wasted deliveries early in the innings and the chase was always under huge pressure. Aiden Markram couldn’t emulate his opposing skipper and went for 7 and the highly rated Dewald Brevis could only muster 5 on debut while Tristan Stubbs was stumped for a duck. The Proteas eventually limped to a 115 all out with 4.5 overs still remaining.
The Aussie bowlers were on song with Sangha picking up 4 for 41 and destroying the middle order whilst Stoinis got 3 for 18 off his 3 overs.
These sides have now met 14 times in South Africa with South Africa winning 6 and Australia 8 and Australia have won 5 of the last 6 T20’s played in SA.
There have been 3 meetings at Kingsmead with Australia winning 2 and South Africa 1.

South Africa 15/10
Australia 11/20
It is hard to argue with the fact that Australia go into this game as big favourites after that comprehensive victory in the 1st T20.
We had some success in the Exotic Markets last time out with Marsh delivering Top Bat for us at 23/10 and I am once again going to focus on some of the alternative markets on offer.
Suggested Bet: Top South Africa Batsman, Dewald Brevis at 5/1
Brevis was out cheaply in the 1st T20, but he was under pressure to score quickly from the moment he came to the crease and I am hoping they push him up the order in the 2nd T20 and that he gets a bit more time to build an innings.
Suggested Bet: Australian Top Bowler, Tanveer Sangha at 5/2
Sangha had the South African Batsmen in all sorts of trouble in the 1st T20 and the host will know that they cannot afford to let him settle in his 4 overs spell. I am expecting them to go after him and this will create wicket taking opportunities.
