Europa League Betting Preview, Thursday 21 September

world sports betting europa league blog

We take a look at two of the Europa League matches taking place on Thursday night and suggest a bet in each game.

Liverpool are the 5/2 favourites to win the Europa League with fellow English Premier League side, Brighton the 2nd favourites at 9/1.  Villarreal are 13/1 alongside Roma and you can get 17/1 and better the balance.

LASK v LIVERPOOL – Click here to bet

This is a Group E match and Liverpool are trading as short-priced favourites at 1/7 to win the group ahead of Toulouse at 8/1.  Union Saint-Gilloise are 10/1 and LASK are the rank outsiders in the group at 22/1.

LASK had to qualify for the Europa League by beating Zrinjski 3-2 on aggregate having won the first leg 2-1 at home.  They are going well in the Austrian Bundesliga sitting 3rd on the table with only 1 defeat in their opening 7 games.

Liverpool are going well in their domestic League and are undefeated after 5 games winning the last 4.  They were too strong for Wolves on the road over the weekend winning 3-1 and their last 4 EPL games have all delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers.

LASK are 15/2 for an outside win with the draw 9/2 and Liverpool 1/3 and I can’t see past a comfortable win for Liverpool here, but it is the goal markets where I am focusing and with both teams having been involved in high scoring matches of late I am looking for 4 goals or more.

Suggested Bet:  Over 3.5 goals at 12/10

SHERIFF TIRASPOL v AS ROMA – Click here to bet

This is a group G match and Roma are firm favourites at 1/4 ahead of Slavia Prague at 5/1, Servette Geneva are 12/1 and Sheriff Tiraspol are bottom of the betting boards at 16/1.

Sheriff Tiraspol have had to reach this stage the hard way beating BATE 7/3 on aggregate before edging past Klaksvik 3-2 on aggregate winning the second leg 2-1 at home.  They were in cracking form in the Moldovan Super Liga on the weekend winning 5/1 at home against Floresti with all the goals coming before the 55th minute.

Roma started their domestic season in shaky fashion drawing their opening game followed by back-to-back losses away at Verona and at home to AC Milan.  They were 4/10 favourites to see off Empoli on Sunday though and they delivered in emphatic style winning the game 7-0 with the damage done with 2 goals in the first 10 minutes.

Sheriff Tiraspol are 6/1 for a home victory with the draw at 33/10 and Roma priced at 5/10.  This looks like another game where goals could be on the cards and I am pleasantly surprised to be getting just under even money that we get 3 goals or more in the match.

Suggested Bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 19/20
