EFL Cup Betting Preview, Tuesday 26 September
September 25, 2023
MAN UNITED

We are down to the last 32 of the EFL Cup and we take a look at two of the matches taking place on Tuesday night and suggest a bet in each game.

IPSWICH v WOLVES – Click here to bet

Ipswich beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 at home to book their spot in the last 64 and then they overcame Reading on penalties after the match had finished 2-2.  Ipswich are in impressive form in the Championship winning their last 4 matches in succession including a 4-3 victory at home to Blackburn on the weekend where they secured the points with a 79th minute winner.

Wolves entered the competition in the last 64 and had few problems hammering Blackpool 5-0 at home.  Domestically they have been battling in the EPL though and have only taken 1 point from the last 9 they have played for and that came on the weekend away to Luton with the game finishing 1-1.

Goals have flowed in Wolves matches of late with 3 of their last 4 matches having 4 goals or more in them.  Looking at the current form of these two sides I expect that Ipswich are licking their lips at the prospect of a Premiership scalp and I am backing them to book a spot in the Round of 16.

Suggested Bet:  Ipswich win at 7/4

MANCHESTER UNITED v CRYSTAL PALACE – Click here to bet

This is an all English Premier League affair and Manchester United will be playing their first match of the competition.  They got a much needed League win on the weekend beating Burnley 1-0 on the road and that broke a run of 3 successive losses in all competitions including going down 4-3 away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week.

Crystal Palace were away to Plymouth in their first EFL Cup action of the season and they won 4-2 having been 11/20 to win the match.

These sides met twice in the League last season with Manchester United winning at home 2-1 and the reverse fixture finishing 1-1 at Palace.

Manchester United are 6/10 to win the game with the draw on offer at 33/10 and Palace 9/2.

I am expecting quite an open game and I bet that we get 3 goals or more.

Suggested Bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 8/10
