RUGBY WORLD CUP BLOGS

There are 3 Rugby World Cup matches taking place on Saturday and we suggest a bet in each of them.

South Africa and Ireland are joint favourites heading into the weekend’s Rugby action with both priced at 3/1, France are 7/2, New Zealand 9/2 and you can get 12/1 England, 22/1 Wales with the balance on offer at 40/1 and better.

ARGENTINA v CHILE – Click here to bet

Argentina were disappointing in their opening match against England going down 27-10 despite being up a man for most of the match.  They then put in a workmanlike performance against Samoa to clinch the match 19-10 and they will know that nothing less than a 5 point haul will be acceptable in this one.

Chile play their final match of the World Cup having lost by 30 points to Japan in their opener and by 33 points to Samoa in their 2nd match.  Things really went wrong for them in their last game against England where they were hammered 71-0.

Handicap:  Argentina -49.5

A bonus point win is non-negotiable for Los Pumas and we pin our hopes on the margin of victory being a half century or more

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Argentina -49.5 points at 9/10

FIJI v GEORGIA – Click here to bet

Fiji are looking good to go through to the quarter-finals after their 22-15 win over Australia two weeks ago.  They had opened their campaign against Wales where they pushed the Welsh hard going down 32-26 after frustratingly having a chance to win the game in the final minute.

Georgia opened their campaign up against Australia going down by 20 points which was just enough to beat the handicap.  They then started 14 point favourites against Portugal last time out and survived a last minute penalty miss by Portugal to draw the game 18-18.

These sides last met in 2021 when Georgia held Fiji to a 15-15 draw at home and that broke a run of 3 successive Fiji victories

Handicap:  Fiji -18.5

This is a golden opportunity for Fiji against a Georgia side who will be determined but look a bit limited. Fiji to cover the main handicap line is the play

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Fiji -18.5 points at 9/10

SCOTLAND v ROMANIA – Click here to bet

Scotland opened up their campaign against the Springboks and they went down 18-3 in a match where they just couldn’t get a foothold into the game.  They then played Tonga knowing that a bonus point haul was essential and they duly delivered with a 45-17 victory.

Romania were always likely to be the whipping boys of this group and so it proved after they lost their first game 82-8 against Ireland and their second match 76-0 against South Africa.

These sides have played each other 13 times with Scotland winning on each occasion and the last time they met was in the 2011 Rugby World Cup with Scotland winning 34-24.

Handicap:  Scotland -59.5

All available evidence suggests this should be a walk in the park for Scotland. We go with them to put the game to bed early doors and cover the first half handicap

Suggested Bet: 1st Half Handicap, Scotland -27.5 points at 9/10
