We take a look at the two World Cup Rugby matches taking place on Sunday and suggest a bet in each game.
A quick look at the latest Outright Betting where South Africa remain favourites at 3/1 ahead of New Zealand, France, and Ireland now all priced at 7/2 after New Zealand’s convincing victory over Italy on Friday night. You can get 12/1 England and 22/1 and better the balance.

AUSTRALIA v PORTUGAL – Click here to bet
Australia opened their campaign with a 35-15 win over Georgia which was very much in line with what bookmakers were expecting in terms of winning margin. They then started 6 point favourites against Fiji, but were beaten 22-15 and in their must win game against Wales last week they were blown off the park by the Welsh who won 40-6 to send Australia tumbling out of the Cup. (They are still in it mathematically, but realistically they are gone).
Portugal play only their 3rd match having lost by 20 points to Wales in the opener and then they came close to recording the upset of the Tournament when they drew 18-18 with Georgia, missing a penalty in the last minute that would have won the match.
Handicap:Â Australia -25.5
The mood in the Australian camp is hard to gauge and Portugal have arguably
exceeded pre-tournament expectations. The handicap looks tricky and we
prefer a half time winning margin play.
Suggested Bet: 1st half winning margin, Australia by 8-14 points at 39/20

SOUTH AFRICA v TONGA – Click here to bet
South Africa finish their Rugby World Cup group stages against Tonga having beaten Scotland 18-3 in their opening match and following that with a 76-0 routing of Romania. Last week’s game against Ireland was incredibly intense, but in the end the Irish just edged the match 13-8 with South Africa paying the price for missed kicks.
Tonga play their 3rd match in the group stages having gone down by 43 points to Ireland in their opener and then by 28 points to Scotland last time out. Overall it has been disappointing performances from Tonga so far, who were expected to give some of the big guns a scare.
South Africa and Tonga last met in the 2007 Rugby World Cup with South Africa winning 30-25. They also met in a Test Match in 1997 which South Africa won 44-10 in Cape Town.
Handicap:Â South Africa -41.5
The Boks should have far too much for Tonga but the handicap is a big
number and preference is for “any forward” to score the first try
Suggested Bet: Position to score first try, any forward at 15/10
