AUSTRALIA

After four games of the World Cup, Australia have had two wins and 2 losses and sit in fourth place on the table. They are the 4/1 2nd favourites to win the tournament.

In their most recent game against Pakistan, Australia lost the toss and were asked to bat. Australia started the game strongly, with both their openers scoring centuries and they reached 259 runs before the first wicket fell. However, the rest of the batting order failed to kick on, managing to score only 108 runs in the remaining overs, leaving Australia at 367 runs for 9 wickets after 50 overs. Warner was the top run scorer with 163 runs at a strike rate of 131.

Australia were put under early pressure by the Pakistan batting order, with their openers scoring 134 runs before the first wicket fell. Thanks to an outstanding spell from Zampa who took 4/53 in 10 overs, the Australian attack was able to slow down the run-scoring, resulting in Pakistan scoring a total of 305 runs before being bowled out in the 46th over.

NETHERLANDS

So far in this tournament, the Netherlands have managed to secure only one victory (against the Proteas), leaving them in eighth place with two points from their 4 matches and they are rank outsiders at 1000/1 for the tournament.

In their most recent clash against Sri Lanka, the Netherlands won the toss and chose to bat first. After losing two wickets in the first ten overs, the Netherlands battled to gain momentum early on. Half-centuries from Engelbrecht and van Beek later in the innings made a significant contribution to their total runs, which ended at 262 after being bowled out in the last over.

After taking two relatively early wickets, the Netherlands couldn’t maintain the pressure and didn’t perform well enough in the bowling department. Aryan Dutt did put in a notable performance with 3 for 44 off 10 overs but that wasn’t enough as Sri Lanka managed to chase down the 262 runs in the 49th over, losing only five wickets.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The last time these two teams faced each other was in 2007 in Australia, when Australia secured a comfortable 229-run victory.

Suggested Bet:  Australia to be over 34.5 runs at the first dismissal at 17/20

Australia’s openers are in cracking form and I expect another fast start against the Netherlands

Suggested Bet: David Warner to score over 37.5 at 17/20

Warner was in sublime form against Pakistan and he has always been a player who thrives on confidence, and I am backing him to keep things going here.
