Argentina
Los Pumas find themselves in the bronze final after a bad loss of 6-44 to New Zealand last weekend. With The All Blacks being 17.5-point favourites for the game, Argentina put up a bit of an underwhelming performance in what was an anticlimax of a semifinal. The half time score was 20-6 to New Zealand and Argentina were in touch for the 1st 30 minutes but they failed to fire a shot in the 2nd half as they were dominated by the All Blacks
Argentina secured their spot in the top four by beating 4-point favourites, Wales, 29-17 in the quarters. They placed 2nd in pool D and won 3 of their 4 pool matches, their only loss being to England (27-10).

England
England find themselves competing for 3rd position this RWC due to their 16-15 loss against South Africa (13.5-point favourites) last weekend. I take back what I said about the South Africa vs France game, THIS was the most hair-raising game I have ever seen.
Conditions were far from favourable, but things were looking up for England as they led 12-6 at half time. England maintained their lead for most of the match, but South Africa kept fighting until they were within 2 points of the English. SA then won a penalty off a scrum to snatch the lead in the 78th minute. England couldn’t break the Springbok defence in the final 2 minutes and hung their heads as the final whistle went no doubt wondering how this one had got away.
England claimed their spot in the semis by beating Fiji 30-24 in the quarters. They topped Pool D and won all 4 of their pool matches, including a 27-10 win against Argentina.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides met during the opening match of Pool D of this Rugby World Cup. Argentina had been heavily backed in the lead up to the world cup coming in from +9.5 to a choice game. In the end it was the English who were too strong despite going down to 14 men early in the match. Hero for the English was George Ford who was on top form with the boot resulting in a fairly comfortable win of 27-10. It is worth noting that all of England’s points were obtained through penalties and drop goals.
Prior to this RWC, they last met at Twickenham in the 2022 Autumn International where Argentina narrowly beat England 29-30. Of the sides 5 most recent head-to-head matches, England has won 4 of the 5 and the average total points per match is 46.8.
Betting
Argentina 27/10
Draw 25/1
England 4/11
Handicap: Argentina +8.5 at 8/10
Suggested Bet: Total tries under 4.5 at 19/20
Conditions look like being tricky on Friday night and although there is not the same pressure as a final I don’t think we are going to see a loose game. England in particular have battled to score tries with none in their semi and they also failed to score in their pool match against Argentina.
