ENGLAND
England are currently in 9th position on the log after losing 3 and winning 1 of their matches so far. They are out to 25/1 to defend their title.
In their recent match in Mumbai last Saturday, England faced off against South Africa. England won the toss and chose to field first. The game started well for England, with Topley taking an early wicket after just four runs were scored. However the English bowlers were then put to the sword and South Africa ended with an impressive total of 399 runs in their 50 overs. Topley was England’s standout bowler despite taking punishment in the back end of the innings and he finished with 3 wickets for 88 runs.
England’s innings never got going as South Africa grabbed early wickets and 8 wickets fell before 100 runs were posted on the scoreboard. A late partnership between Atkinson and Wood added some respectability, but England was eventually bowled out for just 170 runs, resulting in a 229-run loss in the match.
SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka sit one spot above England in 8th after also losing 3 and winning 1 of their matches. They are 500/1 for World Cup glory.
Sri Lanka recently went head-to-head with the Netherlands in a match held last Saturday in Lucknow where Netherlands won the toss and chose to bat. Sri Lanka quickly applied pressure, taking a wicket with just 7 runs scored. They continued to tighten their grip, claiming 5 more wickets before the Netherlands reached a team century. The Netherlands middle order fought back and they reached 262 before being bowled out in the 50th over. Star bowlers were Madushanka and Rajitha, both securing 4 wickets each with an economy rate just over 5 runs per over.
Sri Lanka faced some early batting setbacks but eventually chased down the total, winning the match by 5 wickets with 10 balls to spare. The top performer for Sri Lanka was Samarawickrama, who remained not out with 91 runs off 107 balls to see his team home.

Suggested Bet: Joe Root to score 50+ at 21/20
Root has not been at his best but with his side desperate to win and with their backs against the wall I am backing him to come good.
Suggested Bet: Sri Lanka – top bowler: Dilshan Madushanka at 23/10
Madushanka has impressed me in this World Cup and his tail will be up after his 4 wickets in the last game.
